Sun's magnetic field "is about to flip", warns NASA

 

The whole of the sun's magnetic field is about to "flip", according to NASA - with warning signs being spotted by observatories around the world this year.

This "flip" happens every 11 years, and coincides with the greatest solar activity in the "cycles" of the sun, known as "Solar Maximum" - with sunspots and "coronal mass ejections" on the surface of the sun.

NASA's Curiosity Mars rover is on the prowl, armed with a suite of instruments that can

help gauge the habitability of the Red Planet -- today, for microbes, and tomorrow, for human explorers.

Today (Aug. 6) NASA marks the one-year anniversary of the Mars rover Curiosity's dramatic landing, and you can watch the celebrations online.

From 10:45 a.m. to noon EDT (1445 to 1600 GMT) today, Curiosity team members will reminisce about the rover's harrowing Red Planet arrival on the night of Aug. 5, 2012, which saw the 1-ton robot lowered to the Martian surface on cables by a rocket-powered sky crane.

Illusion dance: Floating in air?!

You might get confused watching this video. It is an illusion dance by a group of girls (not  sure if these girls are Americans). As they do the steps, it is like there's an another girl formed in the middle of each pair of legs! They were like floating in air! It's crazy! I admire their originality.

Storyline
