Older Men and Younger Women: Gross, Natural, or Something In-Between?

older men

When I was 25, I married a man 12 years older than me. At the time, our relationship seemed perfectly natural to me. I'd always felt pretty mature for my age (as so many women do), and especially in comparison to the guys around me. I stayed married to my husband for seven years, and by the time our relationship ended, I saw our age difference in a completely different way. Now that I'm single in my 30′s, I really only want to date guys very close to my age. Less than a handful of years younger would be okay, and maybe one or two years older, but that's about it.

Having a senior moment? Memory lapses? Anesthetics may be to blame

Memory loss may not be due simply to old age.

You meet a good friend in the mall and you suddenly forget her name.

You try to call out to your youngest child but you end up enumerating all the names of your four-plus children before finally getting to the right name.
You search the entire house for your car keys and you find them still stuck in the ignition.

The whole of the sun's magnetic field is about to "flip", according to NASA - with warning signs being spotted by observatories around the world this year.

This "flip" happens every 11 years, and coincides with the greatest solar activity in the "cycles" of the sun, known as "Solar Maximum" - with sunspots and "coronal mass ejections" on the surface of the sun.

A US bus driver who kidnapped and raped three women for a decade in his Ohio home came face-to-face with one of his victims Thursday in an emotional courtroom scene as he was sentenced to life in prison.
Ariel Castro's vain pleas that he was not a "monster" fell on deaf ears, as Judge Michael Russo imposed a sentence of life in prison and an additional 1,000 years of consecutive jail time.

Vibease Redesigns Vibrator as Wearable Tech, Now Seeking Crowdfunding

Vibease Redesigns Vibrator as Wearable Tech

Vibease Redesigns Vibrator as Wearable Tech

It’s been a long journey for Vibease, the Singa-US startup that puts the ‘hard’ into hardware. First seen as one of the competitors at our Startup Asia Singapore event in early 2012, now the company is taking its concept for a Bluetooth-connected vibrator and accompanying app onto IndieGogo in search of crowdfunding. Last year we saw that the stimulating smartphone-controlled vibratorlooked like a rabbit, but the startup team has come up with a sleek, new pink design that they’re calling “wearable” because it can be slipped into a lady’s underwear so that it can vibrate and stimulate the wearer hands-free. Vibease co-founder Dema Tio explains that “because of the tip design, it will stay in place”. This “smart vibrator” is controlled through the Vibease Fantasy app that includes a store for visual erotic stories (no, not porn) that work in sync with the vibrator. Dema tells us:

True story of Mother’s Sacrifice during the Japan Earthquake

This is a true story of Mother’s Sacrifice during the Japan Earthquake.
After the Earthquake had subsided, when the rescuers reached the ruins of a young woman’s house, they saw her dead body through the cracks. But her pose was somehow strange that she knelt on her knees like a person was worshiping; her body was leaning forward, and her two hands were supporting by an object. The collapsed house had crashed her back and her head.
With so many difficulties, the leader of the rescuer team put his hand through a narrow gap on the wall to reach the woman’s body. He was hoping that this woman could be still alive. However, the cold and stiff body told him that she had passed away for sure.
He and the rest of the team left this house and were going to search the next collapsed building. For some reasons, the team leader was driven by a compelling force to go back to the ruin house of the dead woman. Again, he knelt down and used his had through the narrow cracks to search the little space under the dead body. Suddenly, he screamed with excitement,” A child! There is a child! “

Forget the iPad 5 -- I'm waiting for the iPad Mini Retina

The iPad 5 may arrive first, but an iPad Mini with a sharper, high-resolution display is the one to hold out for.

The iPad 5 is coming! The iPad 5 is coming!

Yes, if the rumors are to be believed, we're not too far away from seeing Apple unveil a fifth-generation iPad that it may or may not call the iPad 5. That new iPad is speculated to be trimmer and lighter than the iPad 4, which was unveiled last October, and features a design borrowed from the iPad Mini.

It will most likely offer the same or slightly speedier performance than the iPad 4, which runs on an A6X processor, deliver similar battery life despite its trimmer size, and cost the same as the previous generation iPad. Its cameras, front and back, will probably be improved. And it will probably offer some snazzy new feature that sounds a lot snazzier than it ends up really being. In short, any way you look at it, it'll be the best iPad ever -- and most likely the best tablet ever.

But who cares? It's not the Apple tablet I'm waiting for -- or more precisely, not the one I'm ready to spend money on. That's because, for better and worse, I've gone Mini, and I don't think I can go back.

Gil Perez and His Spontaneous Teleportation

Gil Perez was a 16th century soldier and guard. He was a member of the Filipino Guardia Civil and worked as a guard at the palace of the Governor General in Manila, Philippines. His life was rather typical of a soldier in that place and time. He did his duty to his government and did his job regardless of any circumstances that arose during his guard duty — even spontaneous teleportation to another country.

Work smart, not hard

Fishing? No sweat. These guys don't want to tire themselves so they've decided to make something new. They've attached several fish baits in the string that they're using and put them in a pulley that is specially designed for fishing. They've attached weights at the end of the string so it will be stable underneath. When they will start fishing, the weights are thrown into the sea and just wait for the fishes bite the bait and start winding it up to catch them. Really smart.

Incredible Technology: How to Explore Jupiter's Moon Europa
Under a thick crust of ice, Europa might have an ocean warmed by tidal interactions with Jupiter. This tidal flexing could also produce a geogically active core that might in turn create hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor.
Jupiter's icy moon Europa is shrouded in mystery.

Scientists have long been intrigued by Jupiter's fourth largest moon with its underground ocean and icy shell. Researchers have said that Europa's saltwater ocean could harbor life, and some have theorized that it is the most likely place to find life in the solar system.

The link between oral sex, HPV and cancer has been receiving more attention in recent years. HPV is a virus that's transmitted through sexual contact -- genital or oral. There are more than 40 types, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and approximately 79 million Americans are currently infected. Most people have no symptoms.

Hubble Telescope Helps Solve Galaxy-Evolution Mystery

Hubble Telescope Helps Solve Galaxy-Evolution Mystery
This image shows 20 quenched galaxies — galaxies that are no longer forming stars — seen by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. Each galaxy is identified by a crosshair at the center of each frame.

New observations from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope have helped astronomers crack a longstanding puzzle about galaxy evolution.

For years, scientists have wondered why galaxies that have ceased forming new stars — so-called "quenched galaxies" — were smaller long ago than they are today. Perhaps, they thought, ancient quenched galaxies continued to grow by merging with smaller cousins that had also stopped producing stars.

Ever wondered what the inside of a spacesuit looks like? Neither had I, really. Last week, however, the world had reason to consider the inner workings of the garment that my new favorite site on all the Internet refers to as the "space costume." A suit malfunction occurred nearly two hours into a planned six-hour space walk, causing NASA first to abruptly abort the walk and second to begin examining what might have caused a space suit -- a high-tech spaceship for one -- to spring a leak.

Agency engineers aren't yet sure what caused Luca Parmitano's suit to become, suddenly, unsuitable.

Quadriplegic Uses Her Mind to Control Her Robotic Arm
At the University of Pittsburgh, the neurobiology department worked with 52-year-old Jan Scheuermann over the course of 13 weeks to create a robotic arm controlled only by the power of Scheuermann’s mind.

The team implanted her with two 96-channel intracortical microelectrodes. Placed in the motor cortex, which controls all limb movement, the integration process was faster than anyone expected. On the second day, Jan could use her new arm with a 3-D workspace. By the end of the 13 weeks, she was capable of performing complex tasks with seven-dimensional movement, just like a biological arm.
To date, there have been no negative side effects.

Smith's work has inspired other researchers to create zombie mathematical models, which will be published with Smith's work in the upcoming book, "Mathematical Modeling of Zombies" (University of Ottawa Press, 2014).
